Not written anything here for sooo long. I guess I’ve been busy trying to chill out if that makes sense!
I went to ibiza recently to re visit the island that is possibly the most amazing place I’ve been to (non cultural obviously!) then I returned to England and became 19 years old. Boo. For my birthday mum and I went to the trafford centre during the day then I went to sankeys with my friends at night time. I met a new friend there called Billy. Since my birthday I have been on a massive comedown I guess from a hectic year! I just want to sleep as much as mum will allow and do as little as possible (minus working) so I can just relax!
Here is a picture of my hamster, JD and my dog, milly x

First Year of University is Pretty Much Over…
This is it… the flat is empty, just me left now…. Stacey left this morning and franch from number 7 is leaving as I type!
Only 2 more weeks left of being a fresher! its been a good year overall however im determined to make next year 100% better. Ive met so many awesome people, had amazing experiences along with the funny embarrassing ones! Ive grown up so much - I have realised how important it is to get your head down and work and you only get out of uni what you put into it. Ive met the most amazing people through working at The Comedy Store too.
I’ve just finished tidying and hoovering my room - it feels nice to have a tidy room. Let the hammy run about for an hour or so - he cant get lost in my room there are no holes :D he is on his little wheel now. ive given him a little house and he seems to like it quite a lot!
Today brings revision and then working at 7 and tomorrow…. serious revision for my 2 exams on Monday.
Exams are going well…. i got a first in microbiology and am on track for a first overall even though first year doesnt count!
anyway… time to pop to the shops for some bread and milk :)

Hello - I’m awake at 2:30am again. But I’ve just taken my sleepy pill so fingers crossed I’ll be on my way soon. Today I have revised an awful lot of microbiology in preparation for today’s test. I hope I do well. Paul and gaz finished their journey from john o groats to lands end today. Very proud of them indeedy. Spoke to danny today. He sure is persuasive - I was gonna go to drews and get messy but i’m pretty sure passing my year is more important! Here is a wonderful picture of 2 snowmen.
Goodnight.

Oh tumblr…..

This past month has been a crazy one for me. My best friend danny has a girlfriend now and I don’t see him as much as I like to but I saw him parked up at home in St annes doing what he loves (rolling a cheeky one) and pulled up in my car opposite him - he saw me and his face lit up and in the time he sat in my car we spoke none stop. I love that boy with all my heart and I’m really looking forward to living with him in my 2nd year of uni. Uni Is going really well for me. 6th form I messed up because I had a boyfriend who was crazy and managed to send me crazy in the process of being with him - which I am still coping with now! I hope I never set my eyes on that horrible horrible person again. Which brings me to summer - I do not want to stay in St annes for summer because it is the town of drama and with my mentality I can’t cope with this. So last summer I went to Ibiza to get fucked every night and sunbathe every day - this year I am heading to Malawi in africa. Out there I will be based in a hospital treating patients with malaria and aids and also examining blood test results, diagnosing, dressing wounds and looking after newborns and expecting mothers. I will also be teaching children and helping hippos. I go on the 21st of June but you’ll hear from me by then as I’m gonna need to raise a lot of money to make this dream come true. I heard of Malawi through work as one of my managers lived there and we hold medic Malawi nights to help raise them money. My job is absolutely amazing. I work at the comedy store in Manchester. I have some great friends there - katy James brian Aaron Ed fi and tom, tom being the only person in life who I have everything in common with. These people make me smile so much but there is one person there who I love with all my heart - Paul. He pulls me up when I am down, we have such a laugh together - he helps me in life with everything I could want. A real good friend. Friends - no boyfriend. This is good because I can do all the things in life which I’d like to do. I am very career headed after splitting up with an ex and I doubt I’ll be finding anyone who I want to be with any time soon. I am however a very lonely person esepecially at night times because I crave the cuddles and love that I once had. That was so many years ago now but being loved and loving is addictive - everyone wants it. So I am not wrong for ever being lonely - plus everyone has problems which makes mine just as normal. Problems that aren’t normal however is lack of sleep. Not just “I’m a student” lack of sleep. Proper insomnia. Not sleeping for days. This is me. I’ve been prescribed strong sleeping pills by the lovely doctor in St annes and have taken them the past 2 nights. Yet I’m still up from 6am :( it’s getting to me especially cause I have exams coming up - I really need to be on form for them. My plan for today was revision - I hope I can sleep a little more before 2pm the I can start it with a clear head. When Paul gets back I will have a clear head - I can tell him anything and he will always know the right thing to do. I wish I could thank him but I don’t think words express how appreciative of him I am. Anyway - I should try and get some sleep so I feel a bit more refreshed. Xx

Review of Biotoon.com

posted 2 years ago

Review of Website

biotoon.com

A very general site in microbiology

And very general it is, biotoon.com reminds me of my high school years of following amusing cartoons in an attempt to pick out the useful information. Nevertheless, its eye-catching characters and colourful illustrations grab you into the extraordinary world of micro-organisms

Biotoon.com is aimed at the beginners in the microbiology field, certainly notfirst year degree students. However, the title of our unit “Introduction to microbiology” challenges my first review point.  It is not sufficiently sophisticated for degree students. Pitching this website to GCSE science students would be more beneficial than to inquisitive first year biomedical science students. The home page of the website is bright blue and asks the all important question “does your computer have flash?” – If it doesn’t, I’d recommend giving up now as this website, in my opinion, is really not worth the hassle!

Enough of the negatives, the little yellow bacteria are quite cute with their happy smiling faces and I think the black strings coming out of their backsides are supposed to represent flagella? Homepage (the real homepage) has reliable, fast links down the left hand side which are appropriately titled and lead to more, clever animations. I chose to explore the ‘where’ link and found myself faced with what I can’t describe as anything other than a childs drawing of a house and a little green man posing in the bottom right hand corner urging me to view the next page. I did, and I was pleasantly surprised by the easy to understand general information covered by biotoon.com. Content was clearly not the designers priority here as there was not much of it, however the information that WAS provided was relevant, accurate and easy for any audience to read.

One third of the links involved external links, information and downloads which I thought saved biotoons back and encouraged reading around the cheesy animations. The downloads included, oh wait that section is “work under process”. News included, ah that’s shown up as “sorry still under construction” hang on… Books and links – the font size of the recommended books is too small for me to read. Another fail on biotoon’s part. Something good, something good… the link titled ‘biofilms’ seemed a good option to select as I had no idea what a biofilm was and, after sitting through a five minute cartoon of how bacteria don’t like to be lonely I now have a sound understanding  of biofilms. This impressed me as it was extremely easy to grasp and gave good examples illustrated with interesting pictures. Next, ‘gallery’. I wasted ten minutes of my evening trying to figure out what the pictures were trying to get at – nothing to do with their explanation it seemed. However, I admit it was a good idea to include a gallery section with pictures of bacteria, but I think accurate photos of Staphylococcus aureas or blephasemia  in their home environments  e.g. a mouldy student cup, would have been more amusing.

All in all I would 100% recommend this website to children around 15 years of age as it would sufficiently fill their minds with accurate facts and knowledge about bacteria. Unfortunately, I feel that this website would be quickly dismissed by my course mates and fellow biomed students around the country as quite frankly – it’s boring and far too simple. Credit to the designer for their witty animations, their comical interpretation of bacteria and their story board learning styles.

Here is a picture of my hamster in his food bag. Unfortunately he is poorly - he has a respiriatory infection and I have to syringe him antibiotics every day :( but he will get better I’m sure - he is a trooper.
So, been home a lot recently mainly because manchester was so lonely cause everyone had gone home for Easter. It was nice to see eeryone apart from the cocks but it’s St annes and everyone goes to the same places! Today I have slept. Went out last night and got battered - stayed at kieran kellys house we watched southpark and listened to tigers jaw and Latterman it was fun!
Out again tonight to satans I think! I’m gonna dieee! It’s so good to be bck in mancester it’s so less full of drama and stuff :)
I feel happy - my friends are so rad for everything.
This week I have soo much work to do!!!
But Ibiza 2010 is just around the corner so it’s pulling me through!!!!

My star sign

posted 2 years ago

There could be a missing person very much on your mind these days. Is it possible that the relationship is over and you’re the last one to know? Don’t let your insecurities get the better of you, Cancer. It’s likely that your friend merely needs some time alone to sort out some big life issues. He or she will seek out your warmth and friendship again soon.

This gives me hope when I’m so not on for straying away from what I thought was a true friend.

You’re a part time lover and a full time friend
The monkey on you’re back is the latest trend
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

I kiss you on the brain in the shadow of a train
I kiss you all starry eyed, my body’s swinging from side to side
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Here is the church and here is the steeple
We sure are cute for two ugly people
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

The pebbles forgive me, the trees forgive me
So why can’t, you forgive me?
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

I will find my nitch in your car
With my mp3 DVD rumple-packed guitar
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu du

Up up down down left right left right B A start
Just because we use cheats doesn’t mean we’re not smart
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

You are always trying to keep it real
I’m in love with how you feel
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

We both have shiny happy fits of rage
You want more fans, I want more stage
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Don Quixote was a steel driving man
My name is Adam I’m your biggest fan
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Squinched up your face and did a dance
You shook a little turd out of the bottom of your pants
I don’t see what anyone can see, in anyone else
But you

Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu
Du du du du du du dudu du
But you
